Waverley objects to incinerator plan

This week's Alton Herald highlights that Waverley Borough Council is the latest local authority to object to Veolia's planning application to replace the current Alton recycling facility with a commercial incinerator.


In their submission during Hampshire County Council's consultation period on the application, Waverley highlighted the impact on the local area through increased HGV traffic, increased pollution (including impacting on the Farnham Air Quality Management Area), and that the proposal is contrary to Waverley's declaration of a "climate emergency". (Hampshire has also similarly declared a "climate emergency").
