This week brought the news that waste giant Veolia would not be appealing against the refusal of their planning permission application for a huge commercial and industrial waste incinerator in the rural Hampshire countryside near Alton.
The plans were comprehensively rejected by Hampshire County Council Councillors in February, despite being recommended for approval by HCC Officers.
Veolia had six months from the issue of the decision notice to appeal, which ran out last week.
Campaigners at the No Wey Incinerator Action Group were delighted with the news. Parish Councils will continue to monitor carefully future plans for the current Veolia recycling site, but for now, the No Wey Incinerator group will be winding down activities.
