MPs call for England incinerator moratorium

MP members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Air Pollution have called for the Government in England to follow Wales and Scotland and implement a moratorium on all new incinerator planning approvals, following a new report from the group which highlights a significant growth in particulate emissions from incinerators if the 50 incinerators that are proposed to be built between now and 2030 are approved.


One of those is Veolia's controversial plan to build a massive commercial and industrial incinerator in the rural Wey Valley near Alton - No Wey Incinerator campaigners welcomed the move by MPs, and pointed out Veolia's proposal would be the fourth incinerator in Hampshire.
