East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds has again spoken out against Veolia's plans to build a massive commercial incinerator in the Wey Valley, the Alton Herald reports.
Mr Hinds said "the proposed facility is wholly inappropriate, both in scale and in character, in relation to the Wey Valley location and its surrounding area. I personally regard the inappropriateness of the site as being completely obvious in landscape and visual impact terms. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that, had this site not already been owned by the applicant, it would not have been proposed for such a facility".
Hampshire County Council announced this week that a decision on the application would not happen before "the autumn", given the volume of representations and information to be considered.
The No Wey Incinerator group continue to work behind the scenes preparing for this.
