Environment Agency launches consultation on Alton Incinerator

The Environment Agency have started a public consultation on Veolia's plans for a massive commercial incinerator in the rural Wey Valley near Alton, the Hampshire Chronicle reports this week. The consultation relates to Veolia's application for a variation to their permit for their current recycling facility, to permit them to burn 330,000 tonnes of industrial and commercial waste per annum.

The consultation runs from until midnight on Thursday June 24. Application documents are available to view on the Environment Agency website here.

A spokesperson from No Wey Incinerator said "We are liaising with the relevant bodies and will submit a technical objection after reviewing the application material with our consultants. If there are aspects which would benefit from public objection, then we will offer advice to supporters so they can make relevant comments on the application".
