This week's local news is headlining with the story originally broken by BBC South on Friday 19th November, that Hampshire County Council failed to publish a highly critical report on the possible landscape impact of Veolia's massive commercial incinerator in the rural Wey Valley, and that Planning Officers appeared to be encouraging other HCC departments to downgrade their objections. Articles appeared in the Alton and Farnham Herald, as well as the Basingstoke Observer, on the story, with fears being raised that the behaviour of the HCC Planning department suggests that HCC is biased towards Veolia in this highly controversial application.
No Wey Incinerator, who discovered the critical documents in various Freedom of Information requests made to HCC, are calling for the Council to be fully transparent in their dealings with this application.
