HELP US SAVE THE
Object Now to Burning Rubbish 24/7
Veolia is a huge multinational firm that wants to demolish the current recycling plant near Alton and replace it with an incinerator to burn commercial waste.
The planned incinerator will be 40m high, with 80m chimneys, visible from miles away. The plume of smoke and steam will be even higher. We believe it will permanently damage the landscape and scenery.
It will burn 330,000 tonnes of commercial waste annually - which means 330,000 tonnes of CO2 released into the atmosphere. It will generate thousands of tonnes of hazardous waste.
The choice of this site is totally inappropriate for an industrial complex dominating the rural landscape, and on the edge of the South Downs National Park.
The public consultation period for Veolia's planning application is open until 14th August. Find out how to object now!
There will be two 80 metre chimneys - nearly the same height as the Big Ben Tower and the Statue of Liberty!
Anyone can object to a planning application, regardless of where they live. Please spread the word – share our content and join our group on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter and YouTube.
Who We Are
We are a campaign group of local residents, businesses and farmers who want to protect our beautiful Wey Valley and our local ecology: we oppose Veolia's plans for the new incinerator. Objecting to the planning application is the only way to STOP it.
